Dear Ministers:
Please be guided by the following instructions when conducting the Divine service this evening in all congregations. After the opening prayer, greeting and opening musical selection, please read the following from the District Apostle Kolb regarding the earthquake in Haiti. At the conclusion of the District Apostle's address, please lead the congregation in a short prayer on behalf of those affected by this tragedy as well as those that anxiously await news of loved ones or mourn those who are lost. After the conclusion of the prayer, please continue the service in the normal manner.
Please read:
My very dear brothers and sisters,
A terrible catastrophe has occurred with the earthquake in Haiti. Amidst the widespread destruction of homes and buildings is also considerable loss of life. We count over 2,000 members among the population of this country so near our shore.
Let us join together in prayer for all those who have perished, for those who mourn them, and for the many wandering souls without a home. Truly, our Heavenly Father can help as the Psalmist called out in chapter 80:19:
"Restore us O Lord God of Hosts; Cause your face to shine, and we shall be saved."
Come, let us now stand and join in prayer for all those who are suffering including our many brothers and sisters.
At the conclusion of the service please announce the following:
1. The NAC-USA district will be assessing the situation carefully over the next few days in the hopes of funneling aid from the NAC World Relief Fund to those in need in the most effective manner possible. You may contribute to this fund in the following manner: Please send your check payable to:
