Afrika ist aber sehr "anders" für uns.

Ich frage mich oft, warum die NAK in Afrika beeindruckend wächst (obwohl man das gewollte Wachstum doch aus logistischen Gründen zurückgefahren hat - wir erinnern uns...) und in der westlichen Welt erkennbar schrumpft.

Haben die afrikanischen Mitglieder nicht die gleichen oder zumindest ähnliche Fragen, Anliegen, Bedenken?

Ich kann dazu mangels eigener Erfahrungen nichts sagen. Vielleicht hat jemand tiefergehende (Er)Kenntnisse?

Just a few short years ago, I admit with great sadness and must recognize that I myself would have (most likely) not been moved much by an article like this. Today I know why. Where else could an ignorant fool like me, become the spiritual leader of a congregation? Grand-standing and proclaiming the "Word of God" and truly believe that my ignorance and arrogance would be no problem; for the tremendous power of the Spirit was at work to fill in the gaps. There must be something said about those who go and study in deep love and commitment for many years in a Masters program to become pastors. At a minimum they are equipped to recognize when they are in way over their head. I wasn't; so I went into survivor mode, started reading, learning and hoping no one will notice while I tried to catch up to the task at hand. There were limited resources available from the NAC, so books and classes from other places had to fill the need.
But the minute you open yourself to information, you learn … and the change begins. Only if you refuse information can you maintain the status quo. At first, I was not willing at all to accept any information concerning spiritual matters unless it came from the NAC (I was thought well); even to a point of defying logic and reason. And it was not that I thought the NAC info was better, rather the opposite, many times it was embarrassing and not explainable to others. The ambiguousness of the rules and doctrines were often irresponsible. But you know what it was?? It was familiar and comfortable to me.

Es ist nicht unamerikanisch, bei einer solchen Veranstaltung auch seine soziale Aufgabe zu sehen:

Glancing through the European Day of Youth website, http://www.ejt2009.eu/en/ I fail to find any indication of seminars devoted to being a good neighbor. The failure of NAK Karitativ to be able to financially support programs due to charitable funds being diverted to the youth program is indicative of the NAC mindset -- NAC's own are the priority, and the concept of neighborly love and concern for others frequently fails to breach the hallowed walls of the NAC. There's a toll to pay for leadership having brought membership down this road through years of it's exclusive teaching.

NAK Karitativ needs to bite the bullet on this one. But, rather than complain about current loss of contributions to support their progressive programs that have been instead diverted to supporting the European Day of Youth, they should INSTEAD be seeing it as a golden opportunity to educate the youth attending that event about what true charity is. There is absolutely NO reason that the youth should leave the experience of that weekend without wanting to NOW make an impact on the world... to become a good neighbor! NAK Karitativ should be a major participant in this event and open the youth's eyes to the despair and misery that exists in the world around them.

If the youth leave that weekend not loving God with all their heart, soul, and mind and their neighbor as themselves... then the NAC will have failed once again to do what a church is CALLED to do.

Was waren das noch für herrliche Zeiten, als man den Zugang der Massen zu den StGD per Eintrittskarten reglementieren musste... *träum*

Dass das heute nicht mehr so ist, hat gewiss nur mit dem demographischen Wandel zu tun, oder?

Vorschlag für Herrn Freund: Plazieren sie Chor + Orchester vor dem Altar - wegen der optischen Fülle. Ergänzend ist darüber nachzudenken, ob man der Besuchsfreudigkeit durch kleine 'giveaways' nachhelfen kann: Massenkompatible Streuartikel im unteren Preissegment mit NAC-Logo oder Portraits der KL im Mehrfarbensiebdruck... (Achtung: Stuerliche Rahmenbedingungen beachten!)
